   Kettle house is on Galveston Island, TX, though I’m not sure if it survived hurricane Ike.

   It did survive the hurricane. Every time I pass by that house, I wonder what the story behind it is.

   Glad to hera it survived….we lost our houses (2) but I remember that kettle house ever since I was a little girl!

   I’ve heard that the house is designed to float in the event of a huge flood.

   Go to google maps. Put in “14108 San Luis Pass Rd”. Go to street view and look around. You will see it.

   It’s the top of a silo, turned upside down and roofed over. Brilliant!!! You can see the original hatch just above the added door.

   The concrete pad may be the original footprint of the silo….
