This is a parking structure not a building. The actual building is nothing out of the ordinary

Yes,this is a parking lot, but the library IS something out of the ordinary: the city elected to restore and reuse a beautiful old bank building with all its marble and granite as our downtown library rather than destroying it. We are very proud.

THIS WAS BUILT FOR THE COMMUNITY, BUT MORE FOR THE KIDS. LOOK AT HOW MANY OF YOU ARE BEING SO NEGATIVE! WHO CARES IF YOU AREN’T EXCITED, BUT JUST THINK OF HOW HAPPY A CHILD WILL BE WHEN HE OR SHE WILL WALK OR RIDE BY AND SEE THAT SAME BUILDING AND GET EXCITED EVERYTIME. IF YOU AREN’T HAPPY SO WHAT, LET SOMEONE ELSE ENJOY IT!!

Hello
I would just like to say that this is something out of this world
I you laugh at this piece of a architecture or make fun of it then you are not going to be able to survive this big wide-world

While the de Stijl crowd of neoplastic purists would deny that this building does not follow the “form follows function” edict, in my opionion what better than to show the function of the building by showing the viewer what, indeed, is on the inside. Site architects believe that a building shoult look like it belongs on the site it is built, but in this case, who cares?
With newspapers and libraries face the wrath of the internet, I say “hats off” to the architect(s) and especially to a very courageous city administration. If I were a child, I would beg to go to this library; it has the same sppeal as a carousel. Sincerely Berkley Chappell, Professor Emeritus, Oregon State University, Department of Art
