More info: The columns of Cathedral of Brasília (Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora Aparecida) represents two hands moving upwards to heaven. Building’s design is based in the hyperpoloid of revolution with asymmetric sections. Made of 16 identical assembled columns weighing 90 t. Some people say it’s a copy of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral.

    if you speak on the wall inside another person can hear PERFECTLY you speech on the other side, it’s fantastic!!!

    This Cathedral was built in 1960. The Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral was built in 1967… and they’re very different…

    actualy Rob, it was not completed until 1970…. whereas LMC was as you say, consecrated in 1967… To really know the truth you’d have to check when the original designs for both were submitted. In my opinion whether one influenced the other or not, I think Niemeyer’s concept is a more succesful exploration of the idea….
